Welcome to Langlade
Located in the commune of Montboyer in southern Charente, 40 kms due south of Angouleme, and on the borders of Charente Maritime and Dordogne, Langlade is the ideal summer vacation destination for family and friends. We can cater for either individual families or extended groups of up to sixteen people in our two beautifully renovated four bed-room holiday home rentals, La Petite Anglade and Villa Anglade, both of which are available for rent during the summer months.
The property is set in the magnificent rolling countryside of southern Charente and offers guests a haven of rural tranquility yet, at the same time, is close enough to all amenities to ensure that they do not feel isolated. The village of Montboyer, a typically small country village is only 1km distant while the market town of Chalais with its shops, bars, restaurants and supermarket is only 6km away. Meanwhile the village of Aubeterre and the town of Montmoreau are less than 10 minutes drive away. Aubeterre (voted one of the prettiest villages in France) with its lovely square and famous monolithic church is particularly worth a visit. Bordeaux (often referred to as the Paris of the south) Angouleme, Cognac and Saint Emilion, all within an hours drive, are also worth visiting. A trip to the Dordogne reveals the wonders of its beautiful towns and valleys along the river as well as the prehistoric caves of Cro-Magnon man. An hour’s drive brings you to the beaches of Charente Maritime.
Wine lovers will be enthralled with the region. Whilst Bordeaux and Saint Emilion produce some of the most famous wines in the area there are a host of other lesser known appellations such as Bergerac, Fronsac, Cotes de Blaye and Monbazillac which also produce wines of exceptional quality. Montboyer itself, lies within the Fin Bois area of the Cognac region and a visit to one of the large Cognac houses such as Remy Martin, Hennessy or Martel is also a very popular visit with many of our guests.
Villa Anglade
Villa Anglade comfortably sleeps eight adults. Accommodation includes two large double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms. In addition an infant’s cot is provided in one of the twin bedrooms. With one double bedroom and a bathroom located on the ground floor the house is suitable for handicapped or disabled people. The main living area is open-plan comprising a large fully equipped kitchen cum dining room as well as well as large living area.
La Petite Anglade
Boasting well planned spacious accommodation, La Petite Anglade, with its shuttered windows, terracotta floor tiles and comfortable modern furnishings should not fail to please the whole family. The house comfortably sleeps eight adults (two double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms). It has a spacious bright kitchen with dining area and a large living room featuring a large cut-stone fireplace and open stonework walls.
Both gites have been renovated to the highest standard and offer guests every comfort and convenience in terms of accommodation including private use of their own enclosed (childproof) 10x5m swimming pool. Each holiday home comes fully equipped with fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob, microwave and satellite TV and DVD players. Each gite has its own covered patio, ideal for alfresco dining, and comes equipped with a gas fired barbeque to make for an even more leisurely holiday. In addition, with over three acres of private mature wooded gardens there is more than ample space for children to feel free and safe to run around the property.
To minimize the amount of luggage you need to bring with you, linen and towels are supplied and are included in the price of the rental. There are also two adult bicycles and one child’s bike available for use rent free. Baby sitting and house keeping services can also be arranged if required.
